About Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, located in the Longwood section of Boston near Fenway Park, is a not-for-profit, 642-bed academic medical center and major teaching and research affiliate of Harvard Medical School.   Each year, the medical center cares for about 40,000 inpatients, including 5,000 births, as well as about 500,000 outpatients.  BIDMC is ranked third in National Institute of Health funding for research among independent hospitals nationwide. BIDMC is also a leader in the electronic medical record movement, a US News and World Report Top 100 Hospital, and has won repeated national recognition for quality and safety initiatives.  In addition to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Milton, BIDMC’s healthcare network includes Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Needham, a 58-bed acute care hospital, Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, Lawrence General Hospital, Commonwealth Hematology -Oncology, and several major physician groups and community health centers. BIDMC, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, is affiliated with the Joslin Clinic and Hebrew Rehabilitation Center and is a founding member of Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center.
