Milton Hospital Names 2010 Nursing Excellence Award Winners
JUNE 4, 2010 - Milton Hospital announced its 2010 Nursing Excellence Award recipients at a ceremony held at the hospital on May 20, 2010.
These awards are the hallmark of the hospital's Nurses Week celebrations. The nominations are generated by nursing and hospital staff. "The awards very special since the recognition is fostered by peers nominating peers," said Doris Sinkevich, MS, RN, CENP, Vice President of Patient Care and Quality/Chief Nursing Officer. "Staff who work side by side with each other everyday are in an outstanding position to identify those who truly excel in care and compassion."
This year's award winners are:
· Audrey Hind, Endoscopy Technologist, and Annastazia Valcin, CNA, for Excellence in Nursing Support
· Many Flanagan, RN, and Linda Williams, RN, for Excellence in Nurse Mentoring
· Dorothy Grace, BSN, RN, and Mary Haddad, BSN, RN, for Excellence in Clinical Care
In addition, George Garcia, MD, Chief of Anesthesia, was presented with the Excellence in Physician Collaboration Award.
Family members, co-workers and hospital leaders gathered in the hospital's Nangeroni Education Center to share a catered luncheon and offer their congratulations to this year's honorees.
"Milton Hospital is fortunate to have a nursing staff who are truly committed to ongoing development of nursing skills and delivering outstanding care to our patients," Sinkevich said. "The care provided by our nurses is reflected everyday in comments from our patients."
Some of those comments were included in the event's program, perhaps best summed up with one patient's remark, which stated, "Your staff are extraordinary and are the #1 reason for your success."
