Board-certified general and bariatric (weight loss) surgeon Souheil Adra, MD, has joined the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton (BID-Milton) Medical Staff as Director of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and Chief of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians Surgery at the hospital.
In these positions, Dr. Adra will serve as medical director for BID-Milton’s nationally accredited Weight Loss Surgery Program as well as head of the more than one dozen Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians currently performing surgery at BID-Milton.
“We are truly fortunate to have been able to recruit a highly respected surgeon of Dr. Adra’s caliber to join the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton Medical Staff,” said Ashley Yeats, MD, chief medical officer and vice president of clinical integration and healthcare quality at BID-Milton. “Dr. Adra will be performing both general and weight loss surgery at the hospital. He will play a key role in continuing to grow our nationally accredited Weight Loss Surgery Program and expanding the weight loss surgery options available at the hospital into robotic surgery.
Dr. Adra received his medical degree from American University of Beirut. He completed general surgery residency programs at American University of Beirut, Waterbury Hospital and Inova Fairfax Hospital. Dr. Adra also completed advanced fellowship programs in trauma surgery at Hartford Hospital and in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and is also an instructor of surgery at Harvard Medical School.
Prior to joining BID-Milton, Dr. Adra was Chief of the Section of General Surgery at Bristol (CT.) Hospital.
