Patients requiring language services may contact 617-313-1326.
At Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton, we are committed to serving the community. Our staff is dedicated to helping doctors, nurses, and healthcare providers establish a direct relationship with their non-English or limited English speaking patients through accurate and complete interpretation services.
Interpreters for our non-English or limited English speaking patients are available at no charge. We offer multi-lingual services both in person and by telephone. These services are available for 140 different languages and can be used 24-hours a day.
Trained language service interpreters can assist during hospitalization and inform patients and their families about procedures, medications and other important information. While you may feel comfortable depending on family members or friends, to help you communicate, discussion with your health care team concerning your medical care requires the assistance of a trained medical interpreter. Even if you speak English, you may find that, during serious illness, it is easier for you to understand information in your native language.
To contact Interpreter Services, call 617-313-1326.
For the Deaf or Hearing Impaired
The Interpreter Services Department can arrange for American Sign Language interpreters for the hearing impaired at no cost to the patient.
Patients may also use the hospital’s Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD) to communicate with family or friends. The TDD telephone is located on the ground floor in the Emergency Department and is available for patient use 24 hours a day.
To make incoming calls to the TDD, call 617-696-7929.
